Multiple incendiary devices were discovered at a Tesla dealership in Austin, Texas, on Monday morning, marking the latest in a series of attacks targeting the electric vehicle manufacturer. The Austin Police Department responded to reports of suspicious items at the showroom and, upon arrival, identified and safely removed the devices without incident.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of violence against Tesla facilities and vehicles across the United States. The FBI has reported similar attacks in at least nine states, involving arson, vandalism, and attempted bombings. These actions are believed to be motivated by Tesla CEO Elon Musk's political affiliations and his role as a senior adviser in the current administration.
In response to the escalating threats, the FBI has launched a dedicated task force to investigate and prevent further attacks on Tesla properties. This initiative, involving collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, aims to address and suppress violent activities targeting the company. FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized the agency's commitment to prosecuting those responsible for domestic terrorism and ensuring public safety.
The Justice Department is treating these incidents as domestic terrorism, underscoring the severity of the situation. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities near Tesla facilities. The recent wave of attacks has also impacted Tesla's stock performance, reflecting investor concerns over the company's security and Musk's political involvement.
As investigations continue, law enforcement agencies are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for these coordinated attacks, aiming to prevent further escalation and ensure the safety of Tesla employees and customers nationwide.
