Mrs. Unoma Godswill Akpabio, wife of Nigeria's Senate President, has initiated legal action against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, seeking ₦250 billion in general damages and demanding an unconditional apology to be published in two national newspapers.

The lawsuit, filed at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, stems from allegations made by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of victimizing her in the Senate following her rejection of his purported sexual advances.

In her legal filing, Mrs. Akpabio refutes these allegations, labeling them as false and defamatory. She contends that such claims have caused significant harm to her family's reputation and are fabricated for personal gain.

Beyond the substantial monetary compensation, Mrs. Akpabio's suit emphasizes the necessity for a formal retraction and a public apology from Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to mitigate the damage inflicted by the allegations.

This legal confrontation highlights the escalating tensions within Nigeria's political landscape, as personal disputes between high-ranking officials become matters of public and judicial concern.
