Nigerian billionaire businesswoman and philanthropist, Folorunsho Alakija, has reportedly lost her sight following a near air mishap. The 73-year-old founder and Executive Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil was traveling with her husband, Modupe Alakija, when the incident occurred, causing a significant spike in her blood pressure that adversely affected her vision.
In response to the distressing event, Alakija reportedly acquired a new private jet to avoid flying with her husband. Despite this measure, her vision continued to deteriorate, ultimately leading to complete blindness. Sources indicate that she had been experiencing eyesight issues prior to the incident but chose to focus on her spiritual endeavors, founding the Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International, rather than seeking medical treatment.
Folorunsho Alakija is renowned for her significant contributions to Nigeria's oil industry and her philanthropic efforts. Her company, Famfa Oil, holds a substantial stake in OML 127, a lucrative oil block in the Agbami deepwater oilfield. Beyond her business ventures, she has been actively involved in charitable activities and was ordained as an Apostle on her 69th birthday.
As of now, there has been no official statement from the Alakija family regarding her health status.
