Several JAMB Candidates Killed in Oyo-Ogbomoso Crash on Their Way to UTME

A tragic accident occurred on Saturday morning along the Oyo-Ogbomoso road in Oyo State, resulting in the deaths of several students en route to their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) center in Ogbomoso. The crash involved a commercial vehicle transporting the candidates, which reportedly suffered a brake failure, leading to the fatal incident.

Eyewitnesses at the scene confirmed that the vehicle lost control due to the brake failure, causing it to crash. While the exact number of casualties has not been officially confirmed, the incident has drawn widespread attention and sorrow. As of now, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Oyo State Command, Adewale Osifeso, has not responded to inquiries regarding the accident.

This unfortunate event has sparked discussions about the safety measures in place for students traveling to examination centers, especially considering the early hours and long distances often involved. Many have called for a review of the logistics and scheduling of such critical examinations to prevent future tragedies.
